Wyoming Wedding
The Couple
Rachel + John
Engagement Story
It was the night before Thanksgiving 2020, and peak covid. We had gotten a meal kit from a local restaurant to make together while blasting Fleetwood Mac in the background. After dinner, Johnny was running around and playing with our pup Rosie, and I was reading on the couch. Johnny and Rosie came over and played on the floor right in front of me. Johnny playfully asked, “do you love me? do you love Rosie?” to which I so eloquently responded “duh”, and he said “well I want to do something that will make us even happier.”, and with Rosie’s butt on the ground, and me waving her front paws in the air, I said “we’re getting another dog?!” to which he responded, “No, will you marry me?” I can’t remember if I said yes but I cried tears of happiness the rest of the night. Side note, I got a puppy for Christmas the next month!
Advice to Future Couples
The day is about you, your spouse, and your future together. People will try to make it about them, and try to dictate traditions, invites, color, music etc. Listen but do whatever you want. What was also helpful was talking with Johnny about what he wanted to be involved with and what he didn’t, and then assigning responsibilities. He didn’t care about flowers, decor, or colors so I just talked through that with my mom and MOHs, and he was surprised when he got there 🙂
