“The Couple’s Love Story”
Alex and Miles are from Lexington, Kentucky but their story started years ago in Jackson Hole, WY. Alex is originally from Birmingham, Alabama and grew up vacationing with her family in Jackson Hole and decided to move there shortly after graduating college. It was here in Jackson Hole that she met a couple from Lexington, and decided to move there after her time in Jackson.
Alex and Miles met through mutual friends in Lexington, started dating and shortly after decided to get married! One of the many reasons Alex lived in both Jackson Hole and Lexington is because she wanted to work with horses. She grew up riding and her jobs in both Jackson and Lexington were centered around horses. What better way for Miles to propose than including her horse? He planned a very special proposal that included her horse which had a halter on that said: “Will You Marry Me?”
Alex new before they even were engaged there was only one place she wanted to get married… Jackson Hole. It took only slight convincing to get Miles on a flight to Jackson and he was convinced before the wheels hit the runway in Jackson Hole. Right after their engagement, they booked a trip to Jackson for some wedding planning! First on the list.. the venue. They had a couple of places on the agenda to consider and their first stop was the Snake River Ranch. Before they even finished the tour of the ranch they were sold! It was Alex’s first choice as it embodied everything Jackson is all about. The Snake River Ranch is one of the only remaining cattle ranches in the valley and sits right between the town of Jackson and Teton Village Ski Resort. Its large green pastures that sit below the Tetons and huge Aspen tree groves make for the perfect place to celebrate with friends and family.
For both Alex and Miles the most important thing for their guests was to experience the beauty of Jackson Hole. Many of their guests had never been here before and they wanted nothing more for everyone to see and experience why they love this special place so much. There truly is nothing like seeing the Tetons for the first time and getting to marry in the shadows of these magnificent mountains is truly a dream.
The ceremony was in a small aspen grove clearing and the reception was a five-minute walk alongside the river that ran through the ranch. One of their favorite parts about the venue was the walk to the reception site. The path opened up into a massive green pasture with the Teton’s centered perfectly in the background. The ceremony was very simple- no decorations or flowers or programs. Alex was adamant about not taking away from the sheer beauty around them. For the reception, they had a large big top tent that faced the mountains.
Planning a destination wedding can bring its challenges because many of the decisions that have to be made from afar. Luckily for Alex having lived in Jackson before, it made the planning and decision making a bit easier. Having a friend that was her wedding planner that also new the venues and vendors made their wedding planning a smooth process.
The most important thing for both Alex and Miles for their wedding is that their friends and family enjoyed this special place. For Alex and Miles, the most amazing part of their wedding was getting to be in Jackson Hole with every one of their friends and family. There is something special and magical about the Tetons and getting married there surrounded by friends and family is truly unforgettable.
