Tori + Cam
“We had been talking about getting married for a really long time and we finally both felt like we were ready to start this new journey together. I was in my last semester of undergrad and studying for the MCAT and knew that it wasn’t the best time for a wedding but we were also tired of waiting to make things official! Cam asked if I wanted to go out on Friday night. I thought it was kind of strange since I had a bunch of out of town family staying at my home and I started to get a little bit suspicious. I was so nervous I was waiting and ready right at the door when he came to pick me up, something I don’t think I ever did the entire time we were dating. We drove a little ways above my house up little cottonwood canyon, the entire car ride was more awkward than our first date, both of us were so nervous we couldn’t come with much to talk about. Cam told me that he planned a picnic for us and we hiked up to Lisa falls, a quick easy hike from the road but a beautiful waterfall at the top. When we got to the base of the waterfall, I saw that he had set up a full outdoor picnic with a gauze white tent and tons of battery candles and pillows. He brought our favorite Indian food and cheesecake.I had so many butterflies that I couldn’t think to eat anything and felt really bad because I love Indian food. Turns out he also forgot all the utensils, resorting us to take turns with the one plastic fork from the cheesecake bag. He was starving because he didn’t eat all day planning things to be perfect so I had to patiently wait for him to finish eating. I am so not patient! He finally gave me the cheesecake bag, and I said “Ooooo cheesecake!”, not noticing the giant ring box alongside the cake. He had to fish it out and pull me to my feet so that he could get on one knee. It was actually so romantic and I love that the little things like forgetting forks and my focus on the cake instead of the ring box were part of it. It made it really special and unique to us. After he proposed, and I was done ugly crying, a photographer popped out of the forest to get a couple of pictures of us and the whole set up. After we were done enjoying the evening, we went back to my house and had a huge surprise engagement party with my whole family. Perfect way to celebrate!”
“I wanted to keep my colors neutral but also influenced by fall. Greys, champagne, caramel and gold were my primary colors. I love the rich deep color of the caramel velvet tablecloths we used but I didn’t want it to feel too heavy and the lighter champagnes and greys helped balance it out. I wanted it to be very formal but also super warm and friendly. Texture was really important to me and I wanted to embrace the feel of a nice fall evening. A theme that came about was the idea of pumpkins. We had glass pumpkins on the tables, pumpkins in the flowerbeds and hints of pumpkins throughout. All of the pumpkins were still in neutral colors to keep the vibe from being too much like halloween. I also really wanted something unique and specific to our wedding. I wanted everyone to enjoy a night out but feel laid back and comfortable while doing it…. Once we decided on the “fall wedding” idea I became obsessed with the idea of pumpkin soup in pumpkin soup bowls. We actually had 150 grey pumpkin bowls custom made to serve the first course in. We then had them washed and packaged up for each guest to take home with them as a give away.”
