The Wedding

“This wedding, being my little sister’s wedding, was very close to my heart. The fact that she married my husband’s best friend was a total bonus (haha)! The day was perfect in every way. I managed to jump around from our parents’ house, where my sister was getting ready with her friends (with the most amazing charcuterie spread from Crudité & Co; it even included vegan cheese options!) to my brother-in-law’s place where he was hanging out with the guys. Kate & Graham chose to have a small, intimate wedding, with less than 30 of their closest people present. The very sunny ceremony took place in a forested spot in Vernon, BC, overlooking the valley. Our dad built the arbour, all florals were put together from Hawthorn Farm Studio’s stunning DIY flower buckets. Amy at Hawthorn is very skilled at helping customers choose seasonal flowers that are a perfect fit for the mood and vibe of their event. When we put together Kate’s bouquet using the flowers from Hawthorn Farm, we made sure to include a dried rose from my late grandmother’s rose plant; a special tradition that I also took part in at my wedding. It’s been our little tribute to her, and has made us feel close to her on our special days. After the ceremony we took family and friend photos (I jumped in and out of photos with dirt smudged all over my arms and face). Next were bridals in the forest; my sister and her dress from Murashka Wedding Atelier stole the show. She was absolutely breathtaking. Kate & Graham’s cozy reception was held at Graham’s parents’ house in the backyard. The tables looked exactly as Kate had envisioned, with Amy’s florals, and the most gorgeous (and yummy!) wedding favour cookies from Karyn at Belle Meade Bakery. The cake and cupcakes (vegan, beautifully decorated AND insanely delicious) were courtesy of Janelle at Kelowna Cakes; the cake cutting was, in my opinion, one of the cutest moments of the evening. The day finished off with quite possibly the most fiery sunset I have ever witnessed, a perfect end to an incredibly special and love-filled day.”
