Emily + Daniel

The Elopement

“Emily and Daniel reached out to me wanting to elope somewhere with the “sound of music vibes,” and wanted to be surrounded by breathtaking mountains and wildflowers. I instantly knew that Ouray, Colorado would be the perfect spot for them. As soon as I suggested the area they knew it was the spot. With only a few short weeks to pull it off, we spent hours emailing back and forth, planning every last detail, and when the day finally arrived it was more perfect than we could have ever imagined. The next day I met up with them at the Air Bnb they had rented out for everyone. Emily and Daniel chose not to see each other before the ceremony, so they spent the morning dodging each other and walking around the house with their eyes closed haha. When everyone was ready we made our way up the winding, bumpy mountain road to the spot we had picked out the night before. Emily waited in the Jeep while everyone set up. When it was finally time, she walked with her father down the “aisle” which was a trail winding through the field of gorgeous wildflowers. As she walked, Daniel’s parents played the most beautiful violin melody, that echoed through the mountains. When Daniel finally got to turn around to see his bride, they were both overcome with so much emotion. I still get goosebumps thinking back to this moment. They said their heartfelt vows with only their families and the San Juan Mountains as their witnesses. Emily’s father sang accappella, and both their mothers read the most beautiful letters, then finally they were married. After their ceremony we hopped back in the Jeep and headed up another trail to a high alpine basin for sunset, stopping along the way for photos. When we reached the top we took portraits against the breathtaking backdrop, and then they they finished the evening enjoying a picnic of the best chocolate from the local chocolate shop in town, while watching the alpine glow fade off the peaks of the mountains. And just when we didn’t think the day could get any better, we passed by 2 large moose grazing in the wildflowers on our drive down.”
