El Monte Sagrado Wedding Ceremony

Taos Wedding

When Laura said yes to the idea of doing their first look at the gorge, we knew this Taos Wedding was going to be completely epic! The gorge was the perfect kick-off. Overlooking grandeur views, feeling the wind whip through the deep rocky canyon, that first moment embracing the future was timeless. Luke and Laura truly are “best friends”, and that friendship cut through in all the photos and video. Their unique bond forged through time, distance, and experience added so much life to every aspect of the day. Friends take time to relax and enjoy the moments. While aware of the time, they’re not concerned with a timeline, and they don’t feel pressured or stressed to conform just because.  Best friends are present in the moment and breath every second in as it occurs. Luke and Laura are authentic, classy, intelligent, witty, spirited human beings with a zest for the finer things in life. The setting at El Monte Sagrado absolutely complemented their personalities and brought out the very best in every individual present. I’ll never forget how perfect and picturesque the courtyard was, filled with fiery leaves, and the undertone of trickling water.  It was peaceful and serene and yet, nothing was ever taken too seriously.  Everyone in attendance was close, and that bond carried the momentum of the day well into the reception. The Vendor Collective was impeccable and everything culminated into a perfectly unique tapestry of color and new life.  We felt like an integrated part of the whole and enjoyed every last moment.

The Couple’s Love Story

The stage was set by the 1981 General Hospital American soap opera blockbuster wedding. Having the names of Luke and Laura must have sealed our fate shortly after birth. Moving to Boulder from Arizona, the Knott family embarked on a crash course with my family. Laura began to attend Fairview High School where I was going to school, and Laura’s parents went to work at NOAA where my dad also worked.  It only took 15 years for us to make out with each other at a Red Rocks show to realize we were pretty sneaky hot.

7,691 short miles of separation was all it took for Laura and me to realize that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Laura leaving on a plane to take a nursing job in Doha, Qatar was the most pain of separation that either of us had felt.  Six months after leaving the U.S., Laura decided she wanted to come home.  I flew to Qatar to get her and we went on a romantic tour of India where I asked her to marry me at the Taj Mahal, bought my wedding suit in Delhi, and then ended with an engagement celebration on the islands of Thailand.

After returning to the States, wedding planning was a breeze for this Leo and Libra duo. Just 8 months after getting engaged, plans were set for us to wed in the location of our first date in Taos, New Mexico. We have long felt a spiritual draw to the Southwest and were instantly drawn to the sacred circle at El Monte Sagrado. It was the first and only location we set eyes on.

Our dream wedding wouldn’t have been possible without our tremendous family and friends, and the fantastic vendors that helped make our beautiful fall mountain wedding day come to life. Our advice would be to throw yourselves a party – you deserve it. Marry your best friend. Invite the people you want to be there. Hire the people that you feel the best connections with. And most of all, HAVE FUN!!

Love,
Luke Banta, The Groom
