Paul & Katie – Shutterfreek®
We deeply believe in marriage. We love the craft of film and photography. Honestly, little else professionally gets us as fired up as filming couples on these intimate elopement and wedding journeys. To us, the beauty, contours and austerity of landscapes and venues that provide a uniquely honest backdrop for these holy passages, drive us to continue down this path.
We wish we had the luxury for anything to be “good enough.” But we don’t. We’re driven to continue in growth and development. We truly want to be the most competent love storyteller’s we can possibly be.
What do you consider your style to be? While our editing style continues to evolve and refine, we lean toward warmer-pushed film tones without compromising natural looking skin or skewing natural colors too far from what makes them beautiful in reality. We want to produce clean images that will stand the test of time and look as good 50 years now as they do today.
What are your favorite kinds of couples to work with? So, even though we've had the fortune to shoot a lifetime of pretty weddings – with more money and appointed perfection than one could imagine – our heart remains unimpressed by all this. Don't get us wrong. We love sexy design, elaborate / artistic installations, and ulta-attractive couples as much as the next photographer, but in the end, none of this is what drives us. We love couples and events that have a soulfulness woven into them Two free individuals binding themselves to each other is what keeps us coming back for more. We thrive on couples who in the end, are more in to each other, than the event itself.
How did you get started in the wedding industry? 15 years ago, we had the privilege of an old school Wedding Photographer who now refer to as, Yoda, take us under his wing and give us shot shooting Weddings for him. Within a year he was sending out to shoot his Weddings solo! For years later, 2009 we started Shutterfreek®.
What are your favorite activities to do in The Rockies? Well we live in the desert to most of our time is spent "Desert Roving" but we love to head to the mountains in Durango & Telluride. Love camping with the kids, hiking, snowboarding & onewheeling bike trails.
