Kenzie and Clayton, whose love blossomed from a friendship at CSU, joined their lives in a picturesque ceremony that exuded ‘mountain chic’ meets old Hollywood glamour. Kenzie, the radiant bride, made a striking choice with her wedding gown, Oceania, from Grace Loves Lace. The gown exuded simplicity and grace, with its luminescent, textured satin and classic bias cut that gracefully draped over her figure. Kenzie’s decision was sealed when she tried it on during her first visit to the boutique, although she took the extra step of confirming her choice with a second visit. The gown’s classic V neckline, open back, and delicate rouleaux straps added to its romantic allure perfect for the overall Hollywood glamour theme.

Why did you decide to get married where you did? “We knew we wanted somewhere in the mountains where we could create an intimate and fun filled wedding weekend. We wanted our wedding weekend to feel an adventure for everyone attending. The Surf Hotel was perfectly located between both of our families (Durango and Denver) and seamlessly fit our aesthetic and adventure based location. It just felt right when we walked through the venue and we could picture the entire day being spent there.”
What was the aesthetic of your day? Color palette?“Our aesthetic was old Hollywood mixed with “mountain chic”, we wanted the space to feel effortless yet elegant. Thankfully The Surf Hotel is so beautiful in it’s own design that we kept everything minimal. Our florist created the perfect whimsy arrangements with notes of pink, orange, purple, and bright pops of white. Our bridesmaids wore a soft champagne to tie the whole Hollywood theme together.”
What was your favorite moment of the day? “Other than marrying my groom? I would have to say it was a moment during our ceremony right as we were acknowledging loved ones who had passed and the rain started pouring outside, thunder rumbled, and then almost stopped immediately as we got into the rest of the ceremony. It was a beautiful moment that we really felt all of our loved ones were saying YES to our marriage and giving us a moment to show us they were there.”
What was the highlight of your ceremony? “The highlight of our ceremony I would say has to be our vows as we wrote them ourselves and it meant so much to hear our love expressed in this way we never really have before. My husband is not huge on writing, but his vows were incredible and personal so it meant so much more to hear his commitment through writing.”
What was the highlight of your reception? “We definitely prided ourselves on our wedding playlist and reception vibe. Our giant disco ball with lights bouncing off in all directions and the rockin’ disco inspired playlist has to be our favorite moment of the wedding reception.”
Advice for couples getting married? “Let yourself be delighted by the unexpected moments or surprises during your wedding day (like weather) because it can turn out to be your favorite moment of the day. Really let yourself enjoy each moment and try and stay present.”
