3 Romantic Honeymoon Road Trips

Trips for the Adventurous at Heart

Road trips are one of the best ways to get closer with your significant other. You get to spend hours on the road with one another, singing tunes and eating snacks while heading to the destinations of your dreams. If you’re looking to make a spectacular grand exit from your wedding, hop in your getaway car and let that “just married” sign blow in the wind as you ride off into the sunset for your romantic honeymoon road trip.

Get your playlists ready because we’ve teamed up with Outdoorsy to share 3 routes that will have you falling in love all over again.

Classic New England

Starting in Rhode Island, slip your boat shoes on and get ready for a trip down the East Coast. From Cape Cod to Nantucket, you’ll find pristine beaches, fine dining, romantic cottages, and vibrant harbor-side towns. End your excursion in Maine where you can experience some of the best seafood in the world. This honeymoon is perfect couples that enjoy antiquing together and soaking up history.

Some of our favorite adventures along this route include:

Go biking in Cape Cod followed by a ferry ride to visit Martha’s Vineyard.

Take a scenic autumn drive through Acadia National Park.

Catch a baseball game at Fenway Park.

Sip on a few beers at one of the many breweries in Rhode Island.

Hike Mt. Mansfield.

Catch some rays while splashing around at Sand Beach.

Wild West

The wild, wild west is more than lasso-slinging cowboys and tumbleweeds. In fact, exploring the great vast desert is one of the most romantic trips you can take in the United States. It’s perfect for adventure seekers.

Explore everything that Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona have to offer. Starting in Arizona, visit the Grand Canyon, one of the wonders of the world along with Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon before heading to New Mexico. Once you’re in the Land of Enchantment, visit the Spanish inspired cities like Sante Fe, Taos, and Albuquerque where you can indulge in award-winning restaurants, hike in the rolling, and visit endless art galleries.

Make your way up to Colorado, a land of tall mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and streams. The list of activities here is truly endless. Lastly, stop in Utah where you can hike Bryce or Zion Canyon. Or, sit back and relax at the spa in Park City. After days on the road, we couldn’t think of a better finale.

Some of our favorite adventures along this route include:

Go on an offroading adventure in Moab.

Hike with your beau in the Sandia Mountains.

Hunt for turquoise jewelry at the local shop in Sante Fe.

Spend a sunny day on the putting greens in Phoenix.

Visit Havasu Falls.

Book a white water rafting adventure in the mountains of Colorado.

Relax at the Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs.

California Coast

What would a romantic honeymoon list be without a trip up the California coast? Arguably one of the most famous road trips in the world, the coastal drive is one that everyone should take at least once in their life. Starting in Santa Barbara, make your way up the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) towards Big Sur where you can enjoy the 90-mile stretch of Pacific shore along with breathtaking sea cliffs that offer spectacular views. It’s one of the most beautiful places on Earth and it will probably be pretty hard to convince your loved one to continue with the trip. You’re not going to want to leave.

As you continue, stop in cities like San Francisco and Napa Valley. With constant sunshine, the California coast is the best honeymoon for foodies and beach lovers alike. But, you can’t leave without tasting some of the delicious seafood and wine!

Some of our favorite adventures along this route include:

Sip on wine in Napa Valley.

Visit the Golden Gate Bridge.

Hike to the Hollywood Sign.

Take a trolley in San Fransico.

Ride the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier.

Go whale watching in Santa Barbara.

Soak up the sun in Laguna Beach.

Take surfing lessons with your honey in Big Sur.

There are endless amounts of routes you can take all over the United States and the world. Roadtripping for your honeymoon gives you and your honey a chance to see multiple different places while strengthening the bond you have. So, pack up those suitcases and hit the road!
