“I always “knew” that when Kyle decided to propose I would know. He’s terrible at keeping secrets and lying is not his strong point. However, when Kyle and I planned a spontaneous overnight camping trip on Harrison Lake to a private waterfall, I had no idea what he really had planned. After a long boat trip to the secluded spot, we unloaded the boat and set up our camp. We enjoyed a fire in front of the waterfall until nighttime when the bats decided to come out 100 fold and I forced Kyle to cover me with a blanket, while I crawled the ground until we reached our tent. Bats are not my thing. The next morning we decided to head out pretty early, Harrison Lake tends to be very choppy and we didn’t want a longer than necessary boat ride back. After we had cleaned up camp, Kyle suggested we take a photo in front of the waterfall before heading back. He set up his go-pro, and then we climbed the rocks to get in front of the waterfall. He was helping me gain my footing as the rocks were all slippery and when I turned to face him he was getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. I don’t know how I envisioned getting proposed to but out-of-control sobbing on my part definitely wasn’t on the list. It was the easiest yes. Forward to a year later, we were fortunate enough to get married at his parent’s wedding venue, the Fraser River Lodge. Our day was perfect and we couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop than Mount Cheam.”
