“Mary and Kurt met through mutual friends 7 years ago after they had both moved back to their hometowns in the Okanagan. They talked and laughed for hours, as if they had know each other for ages and quickly fell in love. They soaked up the summer before moving to Vancouver together. After several years on the coast, they knew their forever home was in the Okanagan and bought their first house together in Naramata 3 years ago. On top of a mountain in Summerland, overlooking their home in the valley, Kurt proposed with a bezel-set salt and pepper diamond ring that was inspired by a ring that had been gifted to Mary from her Nonna. For their wedding, they wanted the style to reflect their Okanagan roots while also staying true to their biggest passion, hosting family and friends. Their florist, Gems and Stems at Eastside, included yarrow and sagebrush to represent the flora of the Okanagan, and the warmer tones represented the colours of the landscape in the months that they met and fell in love. The amount of love that poured out of these humans on their wedding day was spectacular. The flowing wine, incredible food, Kurt sabering a bottle of bubbles with his own snakeskin boot – it was so much more than a wedding, but a complete representation of how they live; full of laughter, cultivating and enjoying every experience together, with the people they love.”
