A Bright, Joyful Lodge Wedding in British Columbia

April 27, 2026 BY: Amy

“In 2019, shortly after Kurri and I started dating, we went to a wedding at the Lizard Creek Lodge. It was the first of many weddings we would attend together. There’s something magical about celebrating love with the person you love, and with each wedding, we began imagining what our own day might look like. Fast forward to November 2023, and we got engaged in New York! We explored many wedding ideas— from elopements to destination celebrations to a hometown wedding in Saskatoon, where we met. When we decided on a mountain wedding, nothing beat the Lizard Creek Lodge. It was perfect. With the entire main lodge reserved for our family and friends, we could gather by the pool, share meals together, and truly make a weekend of it. The welcome party set the tone, and by the wedding day, everyone already felt like family. We were blessed with perfect weather and a seamless chairlift ride up to the breathtaking ceremony site. Floating up the mountain in a wedding dress was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The reception at the Cirque was the perfect blend of elegance and rustic mountain charm. The food and drinks were outstanding—so many guests raved about the meal, and the bar kept cocktails flowing right beside the dance floor so the party never stopped. As an added surprise, the Ice Bar was still open, making the night even more unforgettable. Fernie is not yet a very popular wedding destination. There weren’t many vendors to choose from, which was actually a blessing because it made decisions easy, and they were all phenomenal. Moonlight Florals created beautiful arrangements, even hauling the arch florals up and down the chairlift with ease. Makeup Artistry by Candace had me glowing, and Makiko at Sparrow Hair even practiced my hair style request to make sure it was perfect for the day. The one vendor we knew we wanted to bring in from Calgary was Bray and Nat for photography and videography. Their style matched our vision perfectly, and they went above and beyond to capture every detail. They even stayed the night in Fernie! The photos and video turned out absolutely stunning. Last but not least, we decided two months out to have Jaimie Firlotte as our day-of coordinator. What started as a mutual friend turned into one of the best decisions and a lifelong friend. She was always a step ahead and somehow always showed up within minutes with what we needed. Her attention to detail and calm, caring presence made the day flow smoothly and allowed us to enjoy the day. People always say their wedding is the ‘best day ever’—and it really is. The joy of having all the people you love most in one place, celebrating your love, is indescribable. We are endlessly grateful to our vendors, family, and friends for making our day so special.”
