After over four years of putting up with Kellan, I had begun not so patiently waiting for the ring and perfect “down on one knee moment” to happen. I had been disappointed on occasions before where I thought it was going to happen, but coming up on Kellan’s graduation weekend I was sure it was going to finally happen for us. Both our families would be together to celebrate, we had exciting things planned the whole weekend and we were flying off to Alaska right after. Friday and Saturday go by, and although we had a wonderful time together with our families, there was no ring. There was no proposal on that weekend, so we went off to our Alaska vacation. On our first full day in Alaska, we went to breakfast at Snow City Café and then planned to go on the 22 mile bike ride along Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. On our way from breakfast to the bike rental store, there happened to be a jewelry store that I begged Kellan to go into and just look. He refused and you can imagine what that did to my already not-so-great attitude. We eventually got our bikes and started on our long ride, and about one mile in, we rode by a beautiful spot. Kellan asked to take a photo, and I was a little reluctant, but ultimately obliged. We set our tripod up for the photo, and Kellan asked to hold the remote. We pose for our photo and I finally get my perfect “down on one knee,” moment as Kellan proposed with the most perfect ring. Needless to say, my attitude greatly improved and we had the absolute best week in Alaska celebrating our engagement.
