“After retiring from playing a decade of professional rugby in England, Brett moved back to Canada in 2020. Hayley and Brett soon found themselves in similar social circles in Victoria, British Columbia. A few serendipitous accidental run-ins later, they began dating. Hayley knew there was something special about Brett from their very first conversation. Not only because everyone around him seemed to treat him like a celebrity, coming up to him and shaking his hand saying, ‘What an honour, Beuks.’ But she was drawn to his attentiveness to her rambling and spark in his eyes. Brett claims he always knew Hayley was going to be an important part of his life, but could not have imagined the life they would one day build together. He knew, upon learning their shared love for musicals, that this was something special.
