“Our wedding was coastal, funky, colourful, and set on a farm in Gibsons, British Columbia, on the Sunshine Coast — a dream I couldn’t have brought to life without my planner, Kaylee at Bask Events Co. From the very beginning, my husband and I each chose three words to guide us through wedding planning — essentially the way we wanted the day to feel. His were relaxed, beautiful, and romantic; mine were intentional, joyful, and connected. Every decision we made tied back to that, from the overall aesthetic to all the little details that were so ‘us.’ The location was deeply personal, as it’s where I spent summers visiting my Grandma, guests gathered around a giant custom crossword puzzle, inspired by our Sunday ritual of doing the New York Times crossword over coffee, we served our favourite local beer and wine, and yes, there was even a Diet Coke bar (because some things are just non-negotiable!). Most importantly, we wanted our guests to leave knowing how much their presence there meant to us and how important they are in our lives. We value our community above anything else, and our guests are our community — the people who have shaped us and who make our lives so beautiful. To honour that, we wrote handwritten letters to every single guest, sharing favourite memories and our deepest gratitude. My (twelve!) bridesmaids carried unique bouquets by Beg Floral, each with a different flower that came together as the full floral design. It was a weekend full of joy, intention, connection, and love — exactly what we dreamed it would be.”
