Micro Weddings + Elopements at The Western

This historic Ouray gem specializes in micro weddings and elopements, think candlelit dinners in the original 1891 Saloon, sunset ceremonies on the outdoor patio with the San Juans towering overhead, and a deck dinner outside the Bridal Suite that feels like your own private mountain hideaway.
With 16 refined suites, couples can turn their wedding into a full weekend retreat. Picture your closest people gathered around one table, a soak at the Grotto Spa the morning after, and Ouray’s famous hot springs just a stroll away. Micro and elopement packages are available year round, and the team at The Western handles food, beverage, and all the details in between.

Fun facts
How did the venue become a wedding venue?
The Western Hotel is one of the few remaining examples of a wood frame hotel from the 1880s that remains today. This significant landmark, beloved by its community, is unlike anything else in the San Juan Mountains. Built in 1891, the hotel was meticulously restored by Zeppelin Development from 2020 to 2023. After restoring the property, it only seemed right to invite couples and their loved ones to continue to make history in the hotel, and host such a special occasion with us at The Western!
What is your favorite part about a wedding?
It's time for a toast! We love when it is time for speeches and well wishes from friends and loved ones. There is nothing better than watching the room light up with words of love and laughter while sipping on a delicious glass of bubbles or one of our hand-crafted cocktails!

Guests can drive five and a half hours from Denver on one of Colorado’s most scenic roads, or take a short 45-minute flight from Denver International Airport to Montrose Regional Airport. Montrose Regional Airport, located just under 45 minutes drive time from Ouray, offers daily nonstop flights from Denver, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and Phoenix. Ouray is home to the world’s first ice climbing park and various public natural hot springs, thermal pools, and vapor caves. It is only a 50-minute drive from Telluride Ski Resort which is home to the highest concentration of 13,000 and 14,000-foot peaks in North America, and 50- minute drive from Silverton Mountain which boasts 1,819 acres of lift-accessed terrain and over 22,000 acres of hike-to and helicopter accessed terrain.
