How did the venue become a wedding venue?
The Howell family wanted to own and protect this property for as long as they possibly could in order to keep it within the family. To offset all costs that come with running a ranch like this, we decided to host weddings! Weddings are perfect for us because we, and the brides, only stand to benefit from us making sure this property is as beautiful as possible. Many other forms of business don’t allow us to preserve this special piece of Idaho!
What is your favorite part about a wedding?
Sunset bridal photos! I mostly enjoy this part because I take the couple and the photographers in a golf cart to my favorite and most scenic spots on the property. During this time I get my opportunity to talk with the bride and groom for the first time since they’ve been married, and it’s always such a fun break from the wild night. I also love showing off to the photographers, because the viewpoints we have are unreal. Every direction you look at is a future Rocky Mountain Bride cover shot!
Additional Information
It may be the first time you’ve heard of Garden Valley, but it is truly the hidden gem of Idaho. The abundance of grasslands and meadows make it an ideal place for wildlife sightings. At the H5 Ranch the elk come out every night and we have not had a single guest leave without seeing a variety of wild animals. This includes: Elk, Deer, Turkeys, Trout, Eagles, Hawks, Cranes, Songbirds, small critters and many more. Also the mountainous views here are very impressive, which most people don’t expect from a place thats an hour from Boise. This is a great place to show off the rockies! While here, you will feel very connected with the great Idahoan outdoors.
