The Avery Hotel & Brasserie is more than an experience. It’s a culminating celebration of one of downtown Boise’s most enduring, endearing historical properties. Like two sides of a rare coin, Avery and Tiner’s Alley are closely connected but offer deliciously different culinary and cultural experiences, both reflecting the charms of the building’s past while embracing the creative energy of our vibrant city.

The Avery partnership was formed around a central idea — to bring something completely new to Boise while remaining 100% true to its roots. Boise natives and founding partners Cal Elliott, Ashley Elliott, and Michael Hormaechea are bringing that vision to life through their wealth of hospitality and development experience.

CAL ELLIOTT
Cal Elliott is a Michelin-Star chef who has led and prepared in some of New York’s premier restaurants for over 20 years, collecting accolades and fans throughout his decorated tenure.

Cal grew up in Boise, graduating from Borah High before hopping between fishing boats in Alaska and his first cooking gigs in Portland. He soon moved to New York, where he graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education in 1999 and subsequently worked in legendary kitchens like Tom Collichio’s Gramercy Tavern, Dan Barber’s Blue Hill, and Diane Forley’s Verbena before opening his own, Rye, in Brooklyn, 2008.

He is humbled to take part in the revitalization of Boise’s historic Gem Block and by the opportunity to share his food and experiences with his beloved hometown.

Ashley is a designer with a wealth of hospitality experience at some of New York’s most esteemed hotels and restaurants, including the Breslin, a Michelin-starred restaurant once housed in the Ace Hotel New York.

She was General Manager of Rye and its speakeasy counterpart, Bar Below Rye. Ashley was trained at the Parson’s New School of Design in New York, and her degree greatly informs her lead role in the ongoing design transformation for The Avery project.

Ashley’s love and appreciation for authentically preserving history within contemporary, accessible luxury will endear her to all of The Avery’s future patrons.
