La Joya Dulce

Love lives at La Joya Dulce

La Joya Dulce came into being in 2013 when the Triple Diamond Ranch was split into three separate parcels.  The split was fortunate for Kathie and Wayne – we could not afford the entire Triple Diamond, but when a single jewel became available, we were happy to land a sweet deal.

Wayne’s last name starts with J, Kathie’s last name starts with D, and Wayne’s law degree is a Juris Doctor, so the first instinct was to name the place JD Ranch.  “Not poetic enough,” Wayne said.  “The initials need to stand for something.”  Many silly ideas were rejected. (Jaunty Donkey Ranch? No.  Jolly Damsel Ranch? No.  Jumping Dinosaur Ranch?  No.)   Then Wayne consulted a Spanish/English translation site and learned that “Joya” means “Jewel,” and “Dulce” means “Sweet.”

“You are my sweet jewel,” said Wayne to Kathie.  So our ranch is La Joya Dulce, The Sweet Jewel.  Our logo honors the Triple Diamond heritage by preserving one of the three diamonds.

Love Notes

“Our guests were blown away by the venue and the beautiful view (and we were able to enjoy an amazing post dinner sunset before we kicked off the dance party!). During the pandemic, Kathie and her team took full advantage of creating beautiful upgrades to the ranch including some additional decorations and a s’mores bar that we were able to use. It was so nice being able to come back the next day for cleanup instead of having to deal with it the night of. The LJD did an amazing job of breaking down 90% of the decor and clean up which made the process even easier. I cannot recommend LJD enough!”

“What a stunning spot & the owners have thought of every detail. If you are looking for a very specialized wedding location in the Rocky Mountains, you have found it right here!”

– Dawn

“La Joya Dulce provided the perfect wedding experience!  From our tour to the wedding, we were blessed to work with such amazing people.  The planning process was stress free. Both Kathie and Mandy helped provide ideas and suggestions that captured our vision of the perfect day.  No matter how small the question or concern, they were there to help along the way! The entire staff was extremely professional!  Our guests could not stop complimenting them throughout our wedding. Not only do they make sure the day runs smoothly and on time, but they are so personal and friendly! We left our wedding feeling like we have gained a friendship with the staff!”

Fun facts

What are your favorite kinds of couples to work with?

The best fit for the ranch are the couples that want a laid back Colorado ranch/mountain experience.

How did you get started in the wedding industry?

In 2013 after setting foot on the property, I knew instantly that I wanted to be able to share the incredible views with other couples. With my background in event planning, I worked with a PR firm in Southern California who’s business was the grand opening of places such as the celebrity studded Sports Club LA and Sports Club Irvine. I enjoy getting to know each couple and what inspires them.

What are your favorite activities to do in The Rockies?

Steamboat Springs is, hands-down, the last remaining authentic Colorado town. They say your come for the skiing, but stay for the summer. Every season here is absolutely glorious, making Steamboat a fantastic destination

What is your favorite part about a wedding?

Seeing the couples satisfaction at the end of the event and the joy their guests experience while attending the event.
