I also love adventuring with my hunky husband, and I am a new mom who lives in Fort Collins. “Hillary was so easy and fun to work with that after our engagement session with her, we didn’t hesitate to book her for our fall 2021 wedding! She was warm and kind and even though we’re not the most comfortable in front of the camera, my fiance and I felt like we were just hanging out with a friend instead of posing for photos. Our photos were returned promptly (even though Hillary had a newborn at home!) and we were so impressed by how many photos we got from our two hour session with her. What do you consider your style to be?
I consider my style to be documentary and candid. I want my couples to feel all their emotions on their wedding day! For example, when it's time to walk through your sparkler exit, I'll ask you to stop halfway through the tunnel, hold each other close, and take a moment to breathe in all the love and excitement your guests are surrounding you with. You will naturally be overjoyed as you see all your favorite people. Kisses, smiles, and feelings in that moment will all be real and genuine reactions. Your special wedding moments are what I work to document and help you live presently through them.
What are your favorite kinds of couples to work with?
It is truly important that I work with the right couples, and because of this, I do not take every wedding that I am approached about. I take on a limited number of weddings because you deserve the absolute best! My favorite kind of couples to work with are couples who value relationships. Whether it be the partnership you're in, the relationship with your family, or your ride-or-die tribe of bridesmaids, couples who value people will always be my favorite to work with. Weddings are all about love!
How did you get started in the wedding industry?
My photography career actually began in conservation photograph. I've worked with big companies like the National Audubon Society, NOAA, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and the John G. Shedd Aquarium to create educational photo stories and videos. The environment will always have an important place in my heart, but to have more control of my schedule and family life, I switched to documenting weddings and love stories full time, while working in conservation on the side. The switch was easy for me because I LOVE weddings. I'm honored to have been a bridesmaid eight times and a maid of honor twice. 27 dresses is one of my favorite movies, and I channel Katherine Heigl's wedding Wonderwoman energy all the time.
What is your favorite part about a wedding?
Weddings truly make me giddy! How can I pick a favorite part?! I love how weddings are a celebration of love with all your favorite people--the people who helped you become the person you are today. If I have to pick, my favorite wedding moment is when I steal couples away for sunset photos. By this time in the night, couples have relaxed, eaten, and are enjoying themselves. Taking a few moments away from the wedding gives couples a chance to reflect on all of the beautiful love surrounding them. That feeling of being surrounded by love is what I want my couples to remember for years to come.
