Tucked into the mountainside in Vail, Colorado is a gathering spot unlike any other. Since 2003, Donovan Pavilion has been making a statement as a stunning timber and stone mountain lodge. Add the view and surrounding park and open space and you’ll see why this is a truly unique venue for very special events. Donovan Pavilion, nestled between Gore Creek and the South Frontage Road near West Vail, is the perfect year-round resource for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The towering windows and arched beam ceilings of this modern alpine lodge showcase expansive mountain valley views. You’ll find the space warm and welcoming, flexible and functional. Up to 200 guests can be accommodated between this gracious 5,200 square foot pavilion and the 3,000 square foot terrace overlooking Gore Creek. Smaller groups will find themselves comfortable and intimately at home.

How did the venue become a wedding venue?

Originally earmarked for workforce housing, the 10-acre parcel that houses Donovan Pavilion and the adjacent Donovan Park became a community gathering place for guests and residents alike. The forward-thinking Vail Town Council and Management planned every detail of the parcel, including the beautiful mountain design. They focused on the features of the adjacent park athletic fields, children's playground and picnic shelter to offer opportunities for families to gather. The Donovan Pavilion grew into a space that annually hosts weddings, rehearsal dinners, community events, public concerts, non-profit fundraisers, and memorial services since 2003.

What is your favorite part about a wedding?

Our favorite part of a wedding at the Donovan Pavilion is when the big day arrives! By that time, we have had the wonderful opportunity to get to know a couple and many times their families through the planning process. We are so excited to welcome them and their guests to have a fabulous day and return to Vail in the future to say hello!

Additional Information

In addition to the Donovan Pavilion, our team also manages a smaller venue, The Grand View in Lionshead. The Grand View is located on the top level of the Lionshead Parking Structure, offering panoramic views of Vail Mountain from Lionshead to Golden Peak. It is the perfect venue for events hosting up to 100 guests. Our team is happy to provide additional information about the Grand View room!
