Desert Child

Finally, a F***ing awesome wedding band.

We are Desert Child, the alternative to the cookie-cutter corporate music options. We are a musician-owned business that brings high energy and fresh covers to your wedding—from ceremony to reception. When not playing your wedding we are chasing our dream of bringing our original music to the world.

Love Notes
It was like having a Red Rocks show at my wedding.
— Brooke, Bride, Jackson Hole
If you are going to pay rock star prices for your wedding, you might as well pay for actual rock stars. These guys are going to blow up.
— Kristen Rosenbaum, K2 Events, Telluride
I hired Desert Child to play at my wedding at Dunton Hot Springs. They played for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception after dinner. Everything was perfect. They had everything to put on a great show including a sound engineer and lighting. And, of course, they sounded amazing. Every member of the band is very talented. They did a great job reading the room and playing a great selection of songs. Ari was a pleasure to work with and was very accommodating and helpful in picking out songs for the ceremony. Our group was small, only 45 people, and Desert Child was great at keeping everyone engaged and on the dance floor. The band really helped make our wedding weekend truly memorable!
— Neil, Groom
Hands down the best part of our wedding! They played acoustic music at our ceremony and had the full band at our reception. Both were just right. Ari was a tremendous help in keeping us on our timeline so that we could get on the dance floor and dance the night away. All our guests have been raving about how great the band was. 100% worth booking these guys if you want the vibes to be good, the music to be epic, and the dance floor to be packed!

Fun facts

What do you consider your style to be?

We are a Southwest soul & dance band. We start the night with classic hits from Fleetwood Mac to the Rolling Stones and as the energy builds we shift to modern tunes with a twist of our own. We might play a song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Sturgill Simpson, only to bring it back to Miley Cyrus or Spice Girls. Whatever is most fun.

How did you get started in the wedding industry?

In 2018 we all met while working at a wilderness therapy program in Utah and Colorado. This work helped solidify our friendship and shared values. In 2021 we quit our jobs as therapists and guides and began playing bars and stages around Colorado. We released our first cover video “Covers in the Canyon” in 2022 and booked twenty weddings in our first season. The rest is history. We are now full time musicians that play around 30 weddings a year, which helps support our families and original music.

Where do you find your design inspiration?

We take inspiration from classic rock bands of the 60s and 70s and mix in the tones and aesthetic of the Rocky Mountains—leather, denim, boots, and smiles. Sonically, we take inspiration from the harmonies of CSNY, the song writing of the Eagles, and the soul of The Rolling Stones.

What is your favorite part about a wedding?

The moment halfway through our first set where guests start to really loosen up and connect with one another and our band—then I know were going to have a rowdy night.
