Reinventing how love is captured
Hi, I’m Chelsie Chavarria! I love soaking up the simple delights in life. On any given day I might be snuggling at home with my husband Carlos, son Levi, and furballs, Hazelnut and Bentley. When you can’t find me there I might be sipping on brews whether caffeinated or hoppy, brunching with friends, listening to Coldplay on repeat while on a spontaneous road trip with my family, or wandering through neighborhood boutiques. I believe in love, writing thank you notes, and the power a good hike in nature has to heal all wounds. I’m a photographer, artist, wife, and mother – – plus I am always planning my next traveling adventure. I wasn’t always a photographer: I left my nine to five when I was twenty-five and I spent the next few years getting my bachelor’s in fine art photography and growing into the photographer I am today!
Mention you found me on Rocky Mountain Bride and receive $300 off a wedding package or $50 off a couples session!
“Chelsie took our engagement photos and they are honestly perfect. We told her our wants (involving nature, non-posed more natural-appearing, and our dog had to be in them) and she delivered all of our requests and much more!! It happened to snow the morning of our pictures and we almost cancelled – Chelsie was so positive and knew this twist would only add to her vision for our pictures! You should stop searching for photographers now and choose Chelsie – you can thank me later.”

“We chose Chelsie because she has this amazing ability to capture the special moments in the lives of many, by making people feel like they were there—even if they weren’t! She is probably one of the best photographers you will find in Colorado, as her photo quality is simply magnificent. Chelsie made us feel comfortable from beginning to end. She didn’t make us feel rushed and really put thought into creating the best shots. Our favorite part of our shoot was her attention to detail and focus on the things she knew were sentimental, i.e., she focused on a tattoo of my grandfather—who is no longer with us.”

Where are you originally from? Like every good Hallmark movie, I have experienced both big city and small-town life. I am a sandwich Denverite I like to say. I was born in Denver, moved to a super small northeastern plains town called Julesburg, Colorado when I was 8, and then I moved back to Denver as an adult in 2013. You can't keep this girl out of the city, but that small town will be forever a part of my heart.
What do you consider your style to be? I would describe my style as modern and vintage photos meeting on a foggy mountain top sprinkled with a hint of shimmer.I consider it to push the boundaries of standard photography to reflect my film photography and fine art background. Get ready I am about to photo nerd! When I compose an image I try to incorporate and play with all the elements in the scene, not just the main subject so that when you look at an image you can spend time with it. While shooting, I like using different objects or techniques to manipulate a standard camera and look of an image. This might look like covering the lens with a cool fabric or blurring the image in an interesting way with the lens. It results in unique imagery that gets created at the moment which heightens the action happening with my couples before the lens. When editing images I use a consistently warm color and tone and I add a grain effect to them giving them an artistic and sometimes boho or vintage feel. My shooting style is all about the couple and the shot list I have planned after receiving their filled-out questionnaire; the results may be moodier or more playful or a mixture of both depending on the couple's answers.
What are your favorite kinds of couples to work with? I photograph couples who are romantics, they believe in celebrating their love, they never stop dating each other, and they aren’t afraid to climb a mountain together, literally. They are up for an adventure, like an elopement on a mountainside where they have just changed into their wedding attire after a three-mile hike or an intimate wedding of the most cherished members of their lives. I am known for creating a relaxed and free-flowing shooting style that results in candid moments such as laughter in the rain or running through an open field. I love having clients who are as open to adapting to the elements as I am.
Do you travel for clients? If so, where? I LOVE TRAVEL! I always offer options to travel for my clients. I go anywhere in Colorado and I also am able to travel almost anywhere in the world, just let me know where your destination is and I can build custom package options!
