“While very popular as a baby shower theme, few would consider the stories of Beatrix Potter as a source of inspiration for a wedding design. The stories make up the childhood memories of many individuals, feeling almost antithetical to the romantic atmosphere present at a wedding. However, scattered throughout the pages of Potter’s books are beautiful illustrations evoking the beauty of the English countryside, a popular region for weddings. Drawing inspiration from the colors and whimsical lines of the artwork and the tales of characters like Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten, and Jemima Duck, this styled shoot combined the joy of the Potter books with an elevated finish fitting a bridal setting. The photographer, Ashlyn French Photography, who specializes in timeless and romantic affairs, captured the day effortlessly. The Magnolia Event Center, newly reopened after its recent renovation, provided the perfect backdrop with its expansive, curated garden space. Featuring a waterfall and spacious grassy areas, there is plenty of room for guests to roam throughout an event. True to the garden nature of the design, florals were of the utmost importance. From the table arrangements to a scattered ceremony layout, each piece was designed to be organic in appearance, similar to the floral arrangements English families may put together from the flowers they would find in the surrounding countryside. The delicate and intimate ceremony setup was completed with musical accompaniment by a live harpist. Every detail of the couple’s outfits was chosen with a garden surrounding in mind. From the bride’s gown, provided by Versailles Atelier Bridal, to her nails, floral touches were woven throughout. To mirror the bouquet she held, her makeup incorporated warm, pink tones while her hair was styled in a whimsical updo (both services provided by Beauty by Reese). The groom wore a tan suit by DC Tuxedo to compliment their warm, colorful surroundings. Even the couple’s rings, by Wilson Diamonds, had natural elements incorporated into them. When guests arrive to the reception, they are greeted by a teacup escort card display by La Madeleine Studio (who also designed the invitation suite and day-of paper goods). Few things are as evocative of British life as a cup of tea. Doubling as party favors, guests will also enjoy a cup of tea with their dinner from the same cups used to find their seats. Dappled with whites, pinks, and yellows, the dinner table perfectly fits into its outdoor environment. Based around the pink tablecloth and the white floral overlay on top (from BBJ La Tavola), every detail on the table was curated to favor curved, delicate lines whenever possible. Examples of this include the crescendo and decrescendo of the flatware layout, the glassware, and the cushioned chairs (provided by Summit Party Rentals). As guest entertainment options have become more popular, two interactive elements were brought into the day. A live wedding painter was there to capture the couple during the ceremony. For the reception, inspired by Benjamin Bunny and Peter Rabbit, live bunnies were rented for the day for the couple and guests to interact and take pictures with. The couple’s wedding cake, provided by Caked by Chan, was decorated with interwoven, frosting florals that wrap around all three of its tiers. The table is completed with a mini ‘champagne’ tower (blush sparkling cider), to toast to their new lives together. At the end of the event, the couple’s car was decorated with a vintage ‘Just Married’ sign and ribbons. The bride changed into a short white dress from Dillards and traded in her veil for a mini bridal bow ‘veil’ provided by Kaxi Co for the couple’s departure.”
