Summertime Museum Wedding in Wyoming

May 21, 2025 BY: Amy

“Cally and Chris got together as a couple in February 2020—just weeks before life as we knew it ground to a halt because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As our affection for one another grew, and as the world began to open up in the summer of 2021, we decided to take a trip away from our homes in Washington, D.C., to get away from the crowded isolation of a city in quarantine. Chris wanted to show the wild beauty of his native Wyoming to a woman equally stunning and unbridled who had never seen the West. A year later, on another trip to Wyoming, Chris proposed on the shore of the Green River Lakes. After falling in love with Wyoming and more deeply in love with each other, we knew we had to marry in the heart of the mountains where began our real story as husband-and-bride-to-be. Our exceptional wedding planner, Monica Chen-Furman, helped us find the lovely Chapel of the Sacred Heart in Grand Teton National Park, which was the perfect venue to be immersed in the unsurpassed natural beauty of the mountains while celebrating the sacrament of marriage in accordance with our Catholic faith. The day of the wedding was warm and clear, the rare windless Wyoming day as the sun shone brilliantly and Jackson Lake could be heard gently lapping against the shore. The planning team helped design a lovely setting inside the rustic charm of the log cabin chapel and prepared the entire ceremony to create a unique and wonderful experience for our family and loved ones, many of whom were seeing Wyoming for the first time. We hosted our guests for a reception at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, which was another spectacular venue nestled on the hillside overlooking the National Elk Refuge. Few other venues can match the museum’s unique blend of location, ambience, restaurant, and service, and we are thankful to have been able to celebrate our big day in such an artful—and art-full—space. The design made the room feel at once spacious and cozy, which was exactly what we were looking for. The restaurant, Palate, far exceeded our hopes by serving delicious and characteristically Western dishes with high quality ingredients and imaginative preparation. The excellent staff at the museum worked with Monica and us as we planned our wedding from Washington and went the extra mile to answer all of our questions and more about a space we would not physically see until the day of the wedding, all the while cognizant of our needs. We are deeply fortunate to have been able to celebrate our love in such a meaningful place and to work with such delightful and helpful people in the process. We are blessed with memories of that day which were beyond our imaginings and which we will cherish all our lives.”
