“Blake and I met in (we think) 2019. We were acquaintances for a while since we ran in the same friend groups and went to the same church. In early 2022, we were both playing pickup sand volleyball almost every day and got to know each other through that. We went rock climbing together, just us two. Then on February 8, 2022, I called him because my dad had given me two tickets to the Mav’s game that night, and although I wasn’t sure if I was being too forward, I asked him to join me. He was at the track at the time running laps, and answered my call. His answer was, ‘let me think about it….YES!’ His spontaneous and adventurous spirit was something I loved about him. We went to the Mav’s game, only to talk to each other the entire time and not watch a single second of basketball. Then we walked to my apartment, danced to country music, and he kissed me. A week later he asked me on an official date, and we got engaged a year and ten months later! Blake has written me three poems; the first to tell me he loved me, the second to celebrate our one-year dating anniversary, and the third to propose to me. All three poems are metaphors using different aspects of nature to describe our creator God’s love flowing down to us and our love being built on His foundation.”
