“Shelby and Gideon first laid eyes on each other at a wedding of a mutual friend of theirs. For a swift moment as they laid eyes on each other, they claimed that ‘time actually seemed to stop’. I guess love at first sight isn’t such a crazy phrase. As Gideon walked up to her something deep inside of Shelby knew this was something ‘gold.’ Ever since then they have been each others person. They spent time with friends, cooking, slow dancing to old vinyls, and traveling. Which leads me to their engagement. They went on a trip to the west coast and stayed in a small hotel in California. Shelby didn’t assume anything the whole trip. Until they walked onto a beautiful sandy beach. Soon after walking to the shore, Gideon said, ‘oh no, I forgot my phone! I’ll be right back!’ When he arrived he was absolutely shaking and Shelby knew something was up. Even more so after she realized she could hear his heart pumping out of his chest. Before she could say anything, a sweet old couple appeared behind her and Gideon asked the pair ‘would you mind taking a photo of us?’ The couple exclaimed, ‘Yes,’ and then Gideon got down on one knee. He took his time telling her all the things he loved and admired about her in detail. She felt like they were in one of those movie moments where they were the only two people in the world. With tears in her eyes and her hand shaking Shelby answered, ‘Yes!’ She couldn’t stop hugging him after! Then the sweet old couple, massive grins and teary eyed, gave then not only Gideons phone back, but a piece of advice. ‘First off congratulations you two. What a lovely couple. Now I have a few words of advice if you don’t mind me sharing. Love is a verb. It is unconditional. It is, ‘I was thinking about you so I bought you flowers.’ It’s hard at times, but it makes life so worth while. Love is communication and vulnerability all sewn into one. It is a friendship. It is fun, don’t forget that. It is the best. Don’t listen to the nonsense. Love is a beautiful thing. Love is you two. That’s my advice. Take what you will. All the happiness to you both.’ They both practically remembered word for word the old man said and they will carry that with them always. When planning their engagement session they wanted something timeless, yet fun. So we went with the best location for both. Lake Effect in Salt Lake City Utah. The atmosphere was so romantic. Perfect for what the couple was wanting. So there they were, sitting, dancing and kissing. All while taking little sips of champagne and taking in each others company. To end the session we finished off running around the Salt Lake City Capitol. Although the day was gloomy, there was nothing but pure bliss on their faces. Many squishy hugs, soft kisses, and twirling later. They ended their session and chose to celebrate a little more with a romantic dinner. Just them two.”
