“So we randomly met in Montreal (my hometown/his mission) back in 2018. He taught me throughout his mission and that’s how we got to know each other better. After his mission, we had a long distance relationship for 2 years and finally got married in 2022. Since we both are of Chinese descent who grew up in North America, when planning our wedding, we were a little conflicted as to whether we should have a more Traditional Chinese or conventional American theme. After a long discussion, we decided that we wanted to honor both of our identities simultaneously and decided to go for a modernized (or Americanized if you want) red Chinese wedding dress (cheongsam), which was actually designed/ made by ABCs designers as well. We also went for the Blue/Red color match to honor the USA colours, since this is where our life together will start and our love will continue to grow. I’m a sucker for subtle symbolic items haha so the fan was a little subtle plus in our bridal pictures! On the fan there’s a dragon and a phoenix and traditionally the Dragon is symbol of male vigour and fertility, whereas the Phoenix symbolizes yin splendor and female beauty. Together they represent fruitful marriage blessed with a great deal of success and prosperity as well as many off spring, and the beginning of a dynastic family.”
