Snow-Filled McCall Engagement Session

“Normally I love to hike, and I have to convince David to come with me because I know he’d rather be mountain biking. But on this particular morning, he insisted we go hiking along the Deschutes River. I found this suspicious, but despite preferring to enjoy a lazy morning myself, I agreed. We had taken a weekend trip to Bend, Oregon to celebrate an early birthday for me, something we planned at the last minute and therefore felt especially spontaneous. That’s what he wanted me to think, because as we were walking along the river, he found a spot where he wanted a photo (another moment of suspicion for me), and instead of posing for a snapshot, he began secretly recording. He cleverly pointed out an osprey nest behind us which I fell for. As soon as I turned back around to face the camera, he was on one knee. It was just the two of us, among the pines with the rapids roaring behind us. I love the privacy, simplicity, and surprise of that moment. I’m glad I went on that hike.”
