“Dustin and I met in the peak of the pandemic, Aug 2020. I had been living in Vancouver for 5 years and I decided to move to the Okanagan to try something new out as I had just lost my job in the food and beverage industry. I got a job working for an award winning restaurant at a beautiful vineyard. Shortly after, I gave the ol’ dating app a try (thanks Hinge) and that’s when I met my dream man from Saskatchewan, Dustin. Dustin had been an Okanagan resident for 12 years while I had only been there 3 months. The chemistry was instant over the phone and we decided to meet up the next day. Dustin organized a 10pm boat ride on his friends pontoon that somehow turned into a 10 person boat party which forced Dustin and I to the front of the pontoon to get to know each other, separated from the party, while star gazing. It was actually really romantic even with the spontaneous party that took place haha! Dustin planned 1more date for us the next day as he was taking off to do a sailing trip with cousins. We talked every day and when he returned, we made our relationship official. Yes, this all happened within a week! Within our 1st year we had moved in together and got a dog, Arni. Pointing out the obvious – we moved quickly but everything felt so natural and so right. The best part about our journey is our import Japanese camper van. It’s a fun, converted, right hand drive that we use to road trip around Canada. We have an IG account @vansonly95 to document our love and journey. After many road trips and adventures we were engaged within 2 years. We chose to wed on our 1 year engagement anniversary which took place just after the summer solstice. We know how lucky we are to have found each other and practice our gratitude daily. The stars for us have truly aligned.
