“Todd and I met at our best friends wedding! I was a bridesmaid for Karah and he was the guest that immediately caught my eye! After I caught the bouquet, I asked the groom, Morgan, if he could tell me more about this mystery guest. Morgan walked me up to the guest and said “Todd, this is Whitney. She thinks you’re neat!” The rest is history and Todd’s wedding band had “you’re neat” engraved on the inside! It was so fun having a full circle moment with Karah as one of my Matrons of Honor and Morgan as a groomsmen! I have been an event assistant with Premier Events for six years. I love weddings and I have been able to be apart of many gorgeous days. There is something so unique about each wedding day. I love helping bring each vision to life! When it finally was my turn to design our day, I was so excited! We chose to have our wedding in our hometown, Sterling, Colorado. The plains mean so much to us and they have a beauty that is unique to them. We wanted to create our day from scratch. A generous family friend opened their home and land to us as a venue for our wedding. Their beautiful farmhouse was the perfect location for our backyard wedding. We utilized the barn for serving food and rented a clear top tent from FLEXX productions for the receptions. I wanted a wedding that would be completely our own and for it to feel authentically us. I knew Dakota and Rachel with Premier Events would bring our day to life! My Matron of Honor, Karah, helped with DIY projects and lent many decor pieces to help decorate our space! The doors behind our altar came from her grandmother’s old home and the bar we used was the same one from her wedding. Todd and I spent many weeks at the property getting the barn ready for the wedding day and planning where to place the tent. Each trip we made out to our venue it was very windy, and I worried that our wedding day would be the same. Thankfully, on October 8th the sun shined bright and there was nothing but a comfortable breeze in the air. A perfect day to get married. I knew that I wanted our wedding day to feel whimsical, have texture, and be colorful! Revelry had the perfect shades of rose and I knew mixing shades and fabrics would create the look I desired for my bridesmaids! My girls loved the satin and velvet as much as I did! Todd and his groomsmen also wore satin ties from Revelry, keeping the wedding party look cohesive. From working in the wedding industry I immediately knew I wanted Palmer flowers as my florist! Landynne with Palmer took my vision and made it a reality! The hues and floral design was perfection. I still think my bouquet is the prettiest thing I have ever seen. It was whimsical and better than I could’ve dreamed. I wore Elsie Flowy by Made with Love Bridal. I purchased the dress from a & be Denver! Serena was amazing to work with! I loved twirling all night in my dress. After the ceremony I put on my “party bows” which were the perfect addition and gave me a “second look” without changing all together! Plus they were a fun dancing accessory! I surprised everyone with them when I came back from bustling my dress! Amber Blevins from Styles by Sather did my hair and rocked it! It was the perfect romantic up-do! At our trial I told her I wanted exactly what she had done and she was able to replicate it perfectly! She made my wedding morning so calm and relaxing! I did my own makeup with the assistance of my bridesmaids! I knew 2022 was going to be a busy year for the wedding industry! I wanted to ensure I got the exact vendors I wanted for photography and videography. It was important to me to use individuals who I personally knew so I could support their business. Laura Oswald from In Laura’s Lens is a friend I met in college. She is sweet and amazingly talented! I knew I wanted her to capture the day! Her style is so authentic and I always “feel” the love in her photos. Next, I knew I had to have Danielle Leander from Sonder Films. Danielle has filmed a handful of my friends’ weddings, she is so kind and her films always bring tears to my eyes. Since I knew I needed to have these two women to capture the wedding day, I -with permission from Todd of course – reached out before Todd had proposed and asked about their October 2022 availability. When we found out that everyone was available October 8th, we booked them! Both In Laura’s Lens and Sonder Films went above and beyond for Todd and myself! Every time I look back at the photos and video I am able to relive the best day of my life. I would say if you splurge on anything, let it be photography & videography because they capture memories to last a lifetime There is nothing in the world that compares to falling in love and marrying your best friend. The best compliment I have received from guests of our wedding is that they could feel and see how in love Todd and I are. That brings tears to my eyes. Our wedding was beautiful, the day perfect, but nothing compares to our marriage. Everyone deserves a love like this. I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into our wedding day on the plains. The mountains are stunning, but the golden plains are just as breathtaking.”
