Romantic and Refined Wedding at an Alberta Historic Hotel

May 13, 2024 BY: Amy

“A fairytale straight out of a Taylor Swift song unfolded as Michal, the high school quarterback, and Alex, the girl next door, found love just four houses apart in their childhood neighborhood. Though their paths ran parallel in social circles, it wasn’t until they both embarked on the journey of medical and dental school at UBC that their connection deepened. The lure of work led them to Alberta, where they fell head over heels for the enchanting beauty of Banff. Upon laying eyes on the Fairmont Banff Springs, they knew that there could be no more fitting venue for their wedding than Canada’s majestic Castle in the Rockies. Celebrating their twelve-year anniversary, the couple finally exchanged vows at their dream location, ensuring the inclusion of all their local favourites. Self-proclaimed food enthusiasts, they featured the delectable offerings of Made By Marcus, with the man himself, Marcus, overseeing the ice cream cart, adding a touch of local celebrity charm to their special day. The couple also paid homage to their favorite drinks from Cactus Club Cafe – frozen cocktails, bringing in a slush machine to craft signature beverages for their celebration. Highlighting their love for their rescue pups, hailing from Poland and Mexico, the furry companions played a central role in the wedding festivities. From walking the couple down the aisle alongside their bridal parties to lending their names and personalities to the signature drinks and cocktail napkins, and even making a star appearance on the dance floor, the canine duo added a heartwarming touch to the joyous occasion. The Banff Springs provided an idyllic backdrop for a weekend retreat, from the breathtaking views on the terrace for the ceremony to the enchanting Stephen Hall reminiscent of Harry Potter for the reception and the retro bowling alley serving as the after-party hotspot. Drawing inspiration from Vancouverite and Sports Illustrated Model Kate Bock and NBA player Kevin Love’s New York Public Library Wedding, the couple opted for candle-inspired decor, illuminating their evening with over 1,000 pillar candles. Cognizant of the social media era, the evening was curated to offer ample opportunities for capturing memorable moments. Our Lavish Guests captured black-and-white guest photographs and there were plenty of photo-ops including a flower wall and a branded neon sign by Neon YYC.”
