“When Eric and I toured Flying Diamond Ranch just outside of Steamboat, we knew immediately that it was the perfect venue for our wedding. Steamboat holds a special place in our heart for many reasons — it’s the first place we skied together out West, it’s been the mountain we’ve chosen for numerous friend and family gatherings, and we love the overall relaxed, casual vibe of the town. Flying Diamond Ranch is a stunning place, and luckily the natural beauty of the landscape did a lot of the work for us when we were envisioning our wedding day. From a decor standpoint, we knew that we wanted all of our flowers, decorations, and linens to complement the natural scenery, so we went for a lot of neutral tones with subtle pops of color. I have so many of our wonderful vendors to thank for really embracing and understanding our vision — we truly wanted the beauty of the mountains to be front and center, and everything additional to seamlessly fit with the landscape. It was also really important to us that the wedding felt relaxed and fun — our hope was that people would take time to enjoy the mountains, that the day-of events would feel stress-free, that guests would feel comfortable letting loose on the dance floor and that everyone would walk away saying ‘that was a really great party’. Eric and I are pretty casual people, and we wanted our wedding to be reflective of the fact that we don’t take things too seriously. It was a perfect day.”
