“Let’s rewind to Fall Semester 2018! Ben had just transferred to Kennesaw State University and decided to go through fraternity rush where he became best friends with this curly-haired freshman, Sawyer. Elyse was a sophomore at KSU and had just taken a little sister in her sorority, Sam. Sam just so happened to become close friends with Sawyer. That entire fall semester Ben and Elyse never met, nor did they hear of each other, which, is comical now considering how close both of them were to Sawyer. That April 2019, Sawyer spent the entire month begging Elyse to go to their fraternity’s formal in Jacksonville, Florida. Sawyer told Elyse that he had this super nice guy who was looking for a date (spoiler, it was Ben). Instead of creating a super cool introduction, Sawyer decided it would be a good idea to ambush Elyse in the library… during finals. Ben and Elyse talked every day after that while doing “long distance” that summer with both of them living at home. Three months later on August 3rd, 2019 Ben asked Elyse to be his girlfriend while on vacation with her family in Cape San Blas. After they both graduated from KSU, Ben started making arrangements to propose. Throughout their relationship Elyse had always wanted to go to Charleston together and in June 2022 they finally did! Ben planned a beautiful proposal at the Morris Island Lighthouse during sunset on June 1st, 2022. When the time came to make plans for the wedding and honeymoon, they already knew that they wanted to arrange something a little different. Throughout their relationship, they had always hoped to take a road trip out West, but the timing had never lined up. One day, Elyse joked that they should just get married in Utah since they had already researched the area for vacation purposes, and within less than a month, that was the plan. A year later, they were saying, I do,’ in front of fifteen of their closest friends and family.”
