Organic Autumn Elegance at Devil’s Thumb Ranch

“Timeless romance took to the rolling mountains, sipping in the crisp autumn air with bluebird skies, and surrounding golden aspen trees for an elegant western chic affair with nods to our bride’s Texan roots and love for horses woven throughout the day! The wedding color palette leaned into the autumn tones that surrounded the ranch that weekend. It was the perfect blend of warm and cool hues with dusty blue + sage mixed with apricot, terracotta, amber, and cream woven together with climbing greenery and textural autumn florals + leather accents. Fall in Colorado is the most special time of year. When the leaves on the Aspen trees start changing it draws folks to the mountains to peek at their beauty. We were hoping that we’d still have the fall Aspen trees on display during Katie and Stevie’s wedding weekend and so we designed the florals and decor around the changing leaves and fall tones that you find in the mountains during this time of year. Amy Lauren Floral Design sourced local flowers with a mixture of greenery that brought so much warmth and beauty to the reception space. We also incorporated some wood and leather elements in the signage and table numbers to tie everything together for the perfect luxury ranch vibe! Devil’s Thumb Ranch is known not only for their stunning views and world class cuisine but also for their horses. Katie and Stevie love to horseback ride, another nod to her Texas roots. When it came time to design the escort board – we knew that we had to incorporate a little horseshoe moment for guests to keep as a memento. Knapp Design Co absolutely nailed the design. These velvet backed escort cards were the perfect nod to both the luxury of the ranch and it’s laid back western vibe. We’re big believers that your wedding starts as soon as guests get their invitations. It’s the first little glimpse into what the weekend will look like and when working with Knapp Design Co, we knew we wanted to incorporate those same fall tones mixed with the blue you see in the Colorado sky. We mixed those colors with different textures – our favorite being the suede belly band embossed with galloping horses! Katie and Stevie knew they wanted to incorporate their darling rescue pups Ranger and Zoey into their day, so they had figurines created to look just like them and we placed them on their wedding cake. They had Zoey, known as the troublemaker, take a little bite out of the cake – the perfect nod to her little mischievous behavior! Their doggies also made a special appearance with his and hers signature cocktails named ‘Ranger Water’ and ‘Zoe Fashioned’! With Katie being a Texas native, her love for Topo Chico and ranch waters runs deep and when they first started dating, Stevie introduced Katie to Old Fashioneds, so they thought these two cocktails were excellent for their day! “
