Naturally Elegant Wedding at Dunton Hot Springs

September 30, 2026 BY: Amy

“Emma and Thomas first met as young children when their families vacationed together for several summers on Nantucket. Their mothers are dear friends from college, and these annual joint family trips were bonding and blissful. Years passed, life took over, and Emma and Thomas lost touch until a new job took him to Denver, where Emma had been living already for a few years. They reconnected and within days knew there was something special between them. Four years, a house, and three dogs later, Thomas proposed to Emma on a Fall hike in Telluride. Over a celebratory cookie at a nearby bakery, they talked about their dreams for their wedding – small, with cherished family and closest friends, intimate, informal, rustic, and chic. Remembering a weekend they spent at Dunton Hot Springs in Dolores, Colorado, they both agreed that it would be the perfect setting to officially start their lives together as a married couple. It met all the criteria – cozy and rustic, small, delicious, family-style meals with room for everyone to stay on the property – nurturing a togetherness that both Emma and Thomas had their hearts set on. The three-day celebration kicked off with a “come as you are” welcome dinner on the lawn where guests trickled in after far-flung travels. The setting set the theme for the night: dinner under the tent, with everyone embracing western chic. It was a sea of Cowboy hats, boots, leather and suede, and Emma shined in an off-white Ralph Lauren Collection silk tiered maxi skirt, Johanna Ortiz suede halter top, Khaite cowboy boots, and a studded leather cape. Thomas paired a Ralph Lauren western shirt with jeans, boots, and a Stetson hat – not a far departure from what he wears every day.  For her wedding dress, Emma wanted something that would echo her style and fit into the setting. She chose a simple two-piece Danielle Frankel outfit that was equal parts romantic and elegant, with a stunning long veil. And of course, another pair of Khaite western boots, this time in white. Her mother, father, brothers, and sister each wrote personal sentiments to her on the soles of her boots to send her off down the aisle with love. Thomas chose a custom-made beige suit by Atelier Munro. Lily, Emma’s sister, served as her Maid of Honor, and Sam, Thomas’ brother, stood as his best man. It was important for the couple to have all their siblings be a part of the ceremony, so having her brothers, Charlie and Tyler, serve as officiants was an obvious choice. They were surrounded by love.”
