“We always thought we would plan our own wedding without any issues. Both of us being control freaks and me being in the wedding industry we had no doubt of our ability! Looking back now I would tell all future bride and grooms, don’t doubt the role of your wedding planner!!! It is one of the most important pieces and is worth it if it means you get to enjoy each moment a little more! All of my vendor friends are probably laughing at reading this right now. Our vision for our day was to fill this moment with the people who have helped grow us. The ones who helped shape us into the person we are that allows us to love each other. We filled our day full of grandparents who helped raise us, cousins who felt more like siblings, our bosses that are more of our mentors, coworkers that fill our jobs with joy, and the friends that continuously share life’s biggest moments with us. Each of these humans came together to celebrate our love, but for us it was equally about celebrating the love they gave us to get us here. In a room full of the ones you love most, it’s fun to make it personal. The first time I went to visit Mack at work, I walked in and on the wall in a very bold font it read “YOU’RE GOOD FOR MY SOUL”. It was from that moment on he continued to feed my soul with all the best things in life. We had our friend build us a custom backdrop with exact same font and seeing everyone’s photo in front of it brought us so much happiness! I had so much fun thinking of different ways to make the seating chart fit our wedding. One of “our songs” is The Greatest Love Story by Lanco. So I went all over Vancouver to thrift books and had my Maid of Honor and Mom help me paint each book to fit the color scheme. The hardest part was figuring out how to have each name on the spine of the book. The time spent with them sharing laughs and many swear words will be something I always remember. But also having our bookshelf filled with all the people who made our love story possible was an absolute dream come true! And it also doubled as a take home gift! I don’t have much advice or things I would change about this day as it was beyond my wildest dreams. I would absolutely encourage everyone to make it personal. Incorporate pieces of love story throughout your day to make it more you! Don’t be scared to cut your guest list, fill this day full of the ones who bring more sunshine to your lives And most importantly, take moments on your wedding day to soak it all in just the two of you. It is a once in a lifetime kinda feeling!”
