Heartfelt Wedding by the Lake at the Bride’s Family Residence

June 26, 2024 BY: Amy

“In the Maritimes nearly 5,000 km from their hometown of Calgary, during move-in week of university they met and became instant friends. Over time their friendship evolved, partially through their connection and shared love of country music and two-stepping, which felt like a connection to home. By a stroke of coincidence, they ended up renting two off-campus houses side by side, which likely helped their love flourish, and from then on became forever engrained in each other’s lives. Following graduation, they both returned to Calgary and moved in together not long after. They’d been together nearly eight years by the time they were married in July 2023. Having spent so much time at Jade’s family cabin on Mara Lake in British Columbia, it became a place interwoven in their relationship, spending countless hours roading tripping back and forth and getting to know each other on a deeper level. Not to mention it offers the perfect backdrop for what they had in mind. With the help of Jade’s mom to collect some rose petals from CC Bloom (who also did the florals for their wedding), Sam covered the lawn in front of the lake and laid out blankets and candles. Speechless, as Jade turned the corner and the realization of what’s taking place set in, Sam took her to the blanket and got down on one knee. With Jade’s parents and siblings nearby, they celebrated with happy tears flowing and champagne by the water. As a childhood dream to get married at her grandparent’s cabin, it was one of the first things Jade told Sam when they went to Mara Lake for the first time. To say it’s been a vision in the making would be an understatement. They wanted the ambiance to compliment the natural beauty of the surroundings and the tones were earthly elements with splashes of champagne, blush, and powder blue to tie into the lake.”
