“As a Senior Lead Designer at Bespoke Decor, I was given the unique opportunity to design our own wedding. I definitely felt the pressure but at the end of the day, we just wanted our wedding to reflect us and have it be fun and cheerful! We loved being able to mix the relaxed island vibes with details from some of the very best vendors from the city to create a celebration that felt really special. Fresh, bright, fun, and contemporary whimsy were the vibes we were going for. We wanted the day to reflect our cheerful personalities through a mid-century sunset colour palette and playful shapes, layers and textures. And pink was an absolute must as it is our favourite colour! We didn’t want to go overboard with anything, and wanted to make sure it was just the right amount of attention to detail. And most of all we wanted everyone to feel the love and have the best time! Cam and I actually met back in high school and were best friends. It took us 15 years to find our way back to each other and for the timing to finally be right. We decided to risk our friendship and take a chance, and we never looked back. Salt Spring Island is very near and dear to our hearts as we’ve been going there since the beginning of our relationship, visiting Cam’s parents who live there. We absolutely love it and we just knew that’s where we wanted to get married. While we held the wedding celebrations at a super cool studio gallery, we actually got married the night before on Cam’s parents beautiful property, with just immediate family around. There was a massive windstorm the day before the wedding. Trees and powerlines were down, roads were closed, and sailings were cancelled. Half of the island had no power, including their house. But we all eventually made it and we got married that night in candlelight, surrounded by love. The next morning the storm had settled – with clear skies and no wind, it was the perfect weather for the day ahead. We had an All Star team of vendors who absolutely killed it in each of their crafts. All the details – the setting, the decor, the food, the drinks, the music, the company, the moments- it all came together in the most magical way and we will never ever forget how incredible this day was. We are forever grateful to everyone who was involved.”
