“Will and I first met in college through my roommates and best friends, but we didn’t actually go on a date until after graduation. We lived in the same townhouse complex and often spent time with a big, overlapping group of mutual friends. When Will graduated in 2018, we went separate ways and didn’t stay in touch. We didn’t even have each other’s phone numbers! Fast forward to November 2019, we reconnected at an Auburn football game, and a few days later, Will asked me out. Our ‘first date’ turned into an unplanned nine-hour date from a football game to dinner, and from that night on, we were pretty much inseparable. Just a few months later, I moved to New York City for a new job, and we decided to give long distance a try. Thankfully, COVID worked in our favor; with both of us working remotely, we never really had to experience the distance for too long. We spent time together in Atlanta, in New York, and even a month here and there in Bozeman, Montana, at Will’s dad’s house. Those months were such a special chapter in our relationship and truly set the foundation for everything that followed. After five years together, and after I eventually moved back to Atlanta, Will popped the question! My mom is an interior designer, and I have always had a creative eye, so I knew from the start that wedding design would be one of the most exciting parts of the planning process. We wanted to draw inspiration from Montana’s natural beauty while adding our own personal touch. Although Montana isn’t technically a destination for us, nearly all of our guests traveled from the East Coast, so our goal was to share with them everything we love about the state: its stunning landscapes, effortless textures, and sense of calm. From the very beginning, I focused on three main ideas: enhancing Montana’s natural beauty, adding textural depth, and creating subtle contrast. I knew from the start that I wanted olive green as our primary color, a nod to the surrounding mountains. I paired it with chartreuse for a fun, unexpected element; also, it has been one of my favorite colors for years, and I incorporated plum and lilac tones to add a bit of romance and dimension. The result felt organic yet elevated, grounded, but with moments of surprise. I wanted the overall feel of the day to capture that fleeting moment when late summer turns to early fall, my favorite season in Montana, giving way to Will’s favorite season. Every detail, from the color palette to the floral textures and paper goods, was designed to reflect that transition. I’ve always believed it’s the little details that truly tie everything together. Carrying those intentional touches from start to finish made the day feel cohesive, personal, and perfectly us.”
