“We went and stayed at the Ritz-Carlton at Lake Oconee for an ‘end of semester’ trip. He planned the sweetest proposal by the lake and hired a photographer! We collect wine corks for special occasions. We write the date and where we were on it, then save it. This time, he wrote ‘Marry Me?’ on it! This was the same way his dad proposed to his mom, which made it extra special! We left on Saturday morning because he said that his mom was passing through town on her way to the beach, and it was Mother’s Day weekend. Meanwhile, I’m thinking, ‘I thought we were supposed to stay all weekend, why are we leaving early?’ We go to visit his mom at her friend’s house in Atlanta. When I got there, my parents, my sister, my brother-in-law, both of Shade’s brothers, my future sister-in-law, and ALL of my closest friends (who had traveled from Salt Lake, Memphis, Nashville, Baltimore, and Tampa) came to surprise me! I cried so hard. I was so touched, and it was such a special day celebrating our engagement!”
