“Hugh and I centered our wedding around the idea of celebrating our relationship in one of our favorite places with our closest loved ones. We prioritized crafting an experience that was super intimate and detail oriented. Maybe most importantly, we planned it ourselves, which meant that we got to build relationships with all of our vendors and collaborate creatively to ensure that every single detail felt true to us. Our wedding weekend was such an honest representation of our relationship and it was so special to gather the people who helped us get here. We got to be present and deeply focus on each other and honor all of the intricacies of our connection. We incorporated all of the things that are most important to us – I wore my late grandmother’s emerald wedding ring on my pinky, Hugh wore slippers with German Shepherd emblems in honor of our two dogs, and our first dance was to a song he sent me during the early stages of our relationship. Conversely, we did away with anything extraneous – we didn’t do a cake, a rehearsal, or any of the traditional wedding elements that didn’t align with us. We prioritized the way things would feel for us and our families, rather than how they would look (ironically, they ended up looking pretty sweet).”
