Earthy and Intimate Wedding in Jasper

“Kees and I were friends for a while before we started dating. We would have friends commenting on the ease of our friendship and frequently pointed out the chemistry they noticed between us. I can’t exactly put my finger on the moment when things started to change. One moment I do remember was the feeling I had when he said he was seriously considering a job in the Netherlands (where he’s from) – one that I even helped him apply for. I remember thinking about how much I was going to miss his friendship, his presence, his goofiness – all of it. I didn’t want him to go, but I didn’t want to stop him from pursuing a job that could have been a huge stepping-stone in his career. A few weeks later, I found out that he felt the same way about me when he didn’t end up taking the job! Fast-forward a bit, he found a job that he was even more passionate about (that didn’t require him leaving the country) and we knew we wanted to do life together. When it came to planning the wedding, I chose warm earthy tones, like rust, olive green, sage, and beige. I tried to have pops of beige in the pampas grass to accent the wooden A-frame that would be our backdrop. Then I placed more pampas grass on the ground to provide some contrast around the red, boho-esque rug. We even dried a few flowers in our bouquets to get the colors just right. Meghan, our photographer, also did an incredible job bringing out those earthy tones with her photo editing. I’m so thankful how it all turned out in the end!”
