Colorado Engagements Among the Aspen Trees

January 29, 2023 BY: Bailey

“Surprised is an understatement. Brooks and I had talked about getting married since we were both in college, two years apart and getting ready to do long distance for two years. Getting engaged was always the plan, and something we had prayed for. It was all about timing. In April, my best friend called me to give me my birthday present, which was coming to see me in Denver! I was so excited to show her all around my new home and have a girls weekend. Come May, my best friend was in Denver and our weekend began. Brooks let my  friend and I have our time, telling us that he would come and see us here and there, but wanted us to have our true girls weekend. On Saturday, we headed down to Colorado Springs to see Garden of the Gods and to have lunch at The Broadmoor. One we arrived at The Broadmoor, it had started to rain and my friend was adamant that I couldn’t carry the lime green umbrellas we were offered, so we shared.  As we walked over the bridge to the restaurant, I saw Brooks walking toward us. I was in complete shock. With tears in his eyes he grabbed my hands and got down on one knee. It was perfect! Immediately after I said yes, to my surprise, I heard our families cheering. My family lives in Ohio and Brooks somehow managed to surprise me with my three brothers and parents here. We celebrated at The Broadmoor before heading to Brooks’ parents house. Surprise number 2: we walked into his parents home to all our friends from near and far! I have never felt so loved. We celebrated, sang songs, and lit lanterns the rest of the night with the people we love most. It was the Best. Day. Ever.”
