Chilly and Spirited Winter Engagement Session

March 24, 2024 BY: Bailey

“Nick had planned a romantic ski weekend to Banff, Alberta with rose petals, champagne, and candles all ready to pop the question on a mountaintop. But since he wanted it to be just perfect (and no moment was perfect enough for Kelly in Banff), he waited until we were back in our newly purchased home by Calgary. While Kelly was getting ready for a casual pub dinner, Nick put the petals down the stairs leading into the living room and waited for her… However, unbeknownst to Nick, Kelly had found his bag of rose petals, the champagne, and candles in his duffle bag while they were in Banff when he asked her to grab a shirt for him. So when it didn’t happen then, Kelly figured, “oh well – better luck next year!” (she’s an avid Toronto Maple Leafs Fan, so fairly used to saying that line). So when Kelly stepped out of their room and went downstairs, you can imagine her surprise to find a floor full of rose petals and candles with Nick right in the midst of all of it all. And when he popped the question with the box upside down, there wasn’t a question in her mind for the answer. Kelly went from the girl who never wanted this day, to the woman who couldn’t imagine a life without it, or with him. The diamond is a special one Nick found (legally) from DeBeers, where he works as a mining engineer at their diamond mine site in the Northwest Territories. We then worked with Jalisse for our engagement photos on December 15, 2022 – 9 years after becoming an official couple. It was extremely cold; but the energy from Jalisse and the excitement of the day made it feel like the warmest one.”
