“We planned and hosted a wedding of 16 (including us) in a place we’d never visited. Crazy as it seemed to several, it was pretty on-brand with how we approach life (experiences > everything), and our loved ones couldn’t have been more supportive of seeing us start our marriage in a way that was truly to Jake & Sadie. Wyoming is a “land far far away” for most Midwesterners, but having been engaged while hiking in Arkansas & spending years in the Colorado Rockies, Grand Teton National Park was high on the bucket list & seemed a perfect destination for embracing nature, cuisine, music, & all the things we love about the West. We were eager to share the adventure with our parents, siblings, and best friends. We fell in love with the people we met during our planning journey and realized we had several degrees of connections with just about every vendor we collaborated with. From Tanya’s husband’s college roommate being Jake’s colleague to Sadie sharing the same birthday (& first dance song!) as Erin to Trail Creek Ranch being home to our officiant’s childhood friend’s horse… it was all too coincidental, and it made us feel among our people despite not having all of our loved ones in attendance. Our plan from the beginning was to “stick to the plan” (which was the theme of my dad’s speech!) and to prioritize the excitement of our commitment in marriage over the noise and stressors that often come with a wedding. We were extremely pleased with having been able to curate a weekend that incorporated Tyler Childers on repeat, Jake’s great-grandmother’s China, customized plates ft. our beloved pets, eclectic & thrifted decor, and meals that were perfectly suited to our taste buds.”
