Chic Garden Aesthetic Styled Shoot in Victoria

January 24, 2025 BY: Amy

“Tapping into seasonal and sustainable design, early spring flourishes with nature’s beauty after a long winter’s rest. Our inspired vendor team was brought together with a unifying ethos of welcoming spring abundance by showcasing talented local vendors amidst an idyllic countryside estate on the edge of Victoria, British Columbia. This time of year, flowering branches burst into bloom, tulips planted in the fall begin to unfurl their petals, and the warmed earth provides culinary delights. The shoot was a collaboration with heart. As a florist, I planned the shoot to highlight seasonal ingredients- taking care to include the nuanced florals we can use this time of year, such as the dogwood branches pruned from a friend’s tree that needed to be cut away from the power lines and apple blossoms from a neighbour pruning her trees to ensure a good harvest. I connect with my community to share these unique floral ingredients that can’t always be accessed in traditional wholesale markets. Beaumont Catering follows the same ethos with their menu designs and plating styles- they support local farmers to ensure the highest quality ingredients. The white borage in their sea scallop dish was even sourced from the Deerleap cut flower garden. They celebrate the flavours and beauty of Vancouver Island in all of their dishes. Ayla Pena also took a cue from the season by highlighting a tulip motif in her stationery design, complemented by custom calligraphy. Vancouver Island’s beauty is highlighted by the venue, Deerleap Estate. A century-old heritage estate nestled in the hills overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Deerleap Estate is home to lovingly maintained gardens, including the Deerleap Florals cut flower garden. The White Peony also puts local at the heart of their business, specializing in providing boutique collections that are made in Canada. Our photographer, attire and beauty team created two unique bridal looks to feature in our shoot. We have a solo female model and a couple included in this shoot.”
