Charming Modern Affair with Whimsical Touches in Whistler

“Meet Ciara and Taylor, a pair of high school sweethearts whose journey led them to an intimate yet adventurous wedding in Whistler, British Columbia. They envisioned a wedding that reflected their deep connection and the cherished bonds they share with their closest friends and family. Opting for an intimate gathering, they prioritized quality time over grandeur, creating an atmosphere that fostered genuine moments and heartfelt conversations. The style of the day wasn’t just about looks; it was about embracing life’s adventures with a touch of elegance. Their wedding seamlessly blended modern sophistication with a hint of whimsy, reflecting their dynamic personalities and zest for life. Ciara and Taylor left no stone unturned in ensuring that their guests experienced a day filled with delightful surprises and memorable moments. From handcrafted leather name cards that added a personal touch to a funfetti cake that brought out the inner child in everyone, their wedding was a testament to their commitment to creating an experience that was as enjoyable as it was unforgettable. Taylor and I went to school together: we knew of each other in middle school and became close friends (in a really tight-knit friend group!) at the beginning of high school. It wasn’t until the end of high school (just before our senior year!) that we started dating. Fun fact, Taylor actually asked me out our junior year and I said no because I was terrified. So when we started dating for real, it was because I asked him out. Our mutual love of movies, books, and music probably did it at first for us. Taylor is an encyclopedia of knowledge about all of these things and can help me remember artist (and director and producer) names when I can only remember lyrics! Taylor popped the question! We had planned a big 10 year anniversary trip to Iceland and were road-tripping around the Ring Road. We were at a giant waterfall and he somehow managed to find a moment without any other people around! I love the stories of how he planned it all, and looking back on them in light of how he popped the question is funny: there were a few months where he was leaving extra early for work and I’d lightly sass him about it; turns out it was so that he could leave work early to ring shop. Similarly, once we were in Iceland, he didn’t know exactly when or where he was going to propose, and there was one instance in particular where he was intentionally trying to get me away from the crowds at a big crater and I was like, ‘no, we can’t go all the way over there, we have a lot to do today and we have to get moving!’ It was also magical to hold onto the engagement just us, for a few days. We’re really close to our friends and family and had we been stateside I think it would have been hard not to tell everyone immediately. Instead, we kept it to ourselves for a couple of days and then once we were ready we shared with everyone else. I’m known for baking and cooking (including hosting dinner-y parties!) as well as having the next five vacations already planned and in motion. Taylor is known for his ability to spit a ton of trivia at you — especially when it comes to names and dates connected to movies, books, and/or music. Together we are known for adoring our pup, having way too many coffeemakers, loving brunch over all other meals, and being more likely to catch the sunrise together than the sunset (though I would have to set an alarm and Taylor might still have to come wake me up!).”
