“Our goal for the wedding was to make it feel like a big dinner party, and intentionally spend as much time together as we could. Our wedding party spent the weekend with us on the property, and Bradley and I spent the morning of walking the beach with our dog before the chaos. Neither of us love being the centre of attention, so we really designed our weekend around spending time with the people we love most. Making sure we attended our cocktail hour, sitting in the middle of everyone during dinner and spending as much time as we could with everyone there. We felt like two giddy teenagers the whole day, our faces hurting from laughing and smiling. Historically, it never rains in August where we were but Mother Nature had other plans for us. Major rain flooded parts of the reception area the night before, but our wedding party sprang into action (some literally vacuuming the puddles) to make sure nothing could ruin the day. We even spotted some whales that morning off the coast. The rain held off again until after the ceremony, but we honestly barely even noticed, we were just so excited to see everyone. Leading up we were worried people wouldn’t have fun because of the weather, but there was not a complaint in site (nor a dry eye during speeches). For two people who weren’t sure if they wanted a big wedding, we had the best day we could’ve asked for. Our advice would be to let your friends and family help you. We have a tendency to try and do everything ourselves, but your friends and family WANT to be there for you and make sure you don’t have a worry on your mind during the wedding!”
