Bold Vegas Elopement with a Retro Flair

July 17, 2025 BY: Amy

“Jake, originally from Pahrump, Nevada, and Cristina, from Burbank, California, first crossed paths in 2019 when they began pursuing their law degrees at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. They knew almost immediately that their connection was something special. They traveled to places like Sedona and New Orleans, but their connection grew even stronger after spending 2020 quarantined together in their tiny apartment while tackling law school virtually. This gave them time to truly get to know each other on a deeper level, and they quickly discovered their shared values and love for their community. They even adopted their two fur babies: Sazerac, a lynx point Siamese, and Paloma, a chocolate point Siamese with striking blue eyes. It wasn’t long before they knew they couldn’t live without each other. In May 2022, with graduation just around the corner, Jake knew it was the perfect time to propose. Just days before receiving their diplomas, the two traveled with close friends to New Orleans for Jazz Fest. One evening, while taking a walk near Frenchman Street, Jake asked a Voodoo Priestess to help him propose. While the priestess was telling Cristina about what the future had in store, Jake popped the question. With soulful music playing in the background, surrounded by people she loved, Cristina said yes. After buying their first home in the historic Las Vegas neighborhood of Paradise Palms, they began planning their wedding, deciding to forgo the traditional in exchange for an amalgamation of their favorite things. Instead of an elaborate ceremony, they shared an intimate vow exchange in the morning, followed by an Elvis-themed ceremony at The Little White Chapel. After the ceremony, they hosted a lively celebration with friends and family at their new home. This home, an authentic mid-century modern gem with stunning architecture and a rich history, served as a key source of inspiration for their wedding. Wanting to share the essence of Las Vegas history with their loved ones, they invited everyone to experience the city’s vibrant past through their eyes. In true Vegas style, they asked guests to show up in their most extravagant and unforgettable outfits, adding to the excitement of the day.”
